ZephyCFD is the main software developed by ZephyScience. It is a microscale CFD wind modelling tool based on OpenFOAM, solving a two-equation RANS model. It is particularly suited for complex onshore terrains, and will soon become relevant for offshore and repowering projects with the integration of turbine-flow interactions in the model (CFD wake and blockage effect modelling).

This is where the muscle power of the Cloud really kicks in. For various wind input directions, wind speed-ups are calculated over the whole terrain until steady-state us reached
The Calculate tab is suited for a wide range of users, from the CFD beginner to the expert. Adaptive default parameters can be changed for user preferences.
52 default wind directions are calculated and can be refined down to calculations every 2° of synoptic wind directions
Convergence robustness and accuracy are also configurable, based on OpenFOAM solver configurations.
The rosing process combines and normalises results over all the directions considered.
Speed up results are scaled by the climatology files at the measurement points and geographically extrapolated over the points of the mesh.
Met mast interpolations are also done at each point, whenever sufficient data is available.
Wind resource grids (.wrg files), climatologies and results at point of interest can be obtained in order to complete a wind resource assessment
If the wind farm layout is already established, an energy yield assessment can also be done.
Turbine-wise P50 to P95 yield tables can easily be delivered to your work flow.
For now, wake losses are also considered based on the Jensen model
